Open Textbook Resources: Accessibility

What is an Accessible OER?

Accessibility criteria for open texts can be grouped under the acronym POUR (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust).

The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) provides guidelines and great resources.  Visit their website for an introduction to web accessibilitytips for getting started, an accessibility checklist, and information on how to select a web accessibility evaluation tool

This report is a good summary of how 60 online open texts, web and pdf, were reviewed for accessibility and what main challenges remain.
