How to Get the Most Out of Your GSCPA Student Membership

As a student, it’s all about taking steps to prepare for your future. Whether it’s finishing school and passing the CPA exam or obtaining your license and entering the workforce, a student membership with The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) can help you with those steps. GSCPA offers several tools, opportunities, and benefits to give you the information you need on your journey to becoming a CPA. (http://www.gscpa.org/content/Students/BecomeaCPA.aspx) Scholarships GSCPA understands college is expensive. That’s why every year The Educational Foundation (http://www.gscpa.org/content/EducationalFoundation/About.aspx) awards thousands in scholarship funds to encourage the best and brightest individuals in Georgia to become Certified Public Accountants.

As a student member, you receive e-mail reminders for when our scholarships open and close, so you don’t miss a single scholarship opportunity. Networking GSCPA is your link to 14,000 CPAs and accounting professionals throughout the state working in public accounting, government, industry and education. With such a diverse membership, students can gain first-hand knowledge about any job they’re considering after graduation by meeting members face-to-face at conferences and chapter meetings, or reaching out online through the Linked-In group or CPA Referral Service. (http://www.gscpa.org/content/ProfessionalResources/ReferralService.aspx) Students can also stay updated on what jobs are being posted within the GSCPA community on the Career Center page (https://www.careerwebsite.com/? site_id=6342).

CPA Exam Info and Study Guides Prepping for the CPA Exam may be expensive and stressful for some, but not for a GSCPA Student Member!

GSCPA works closely with eight different course providers to give you affordable study options and updates on any changes to the exam. By utilizing our page dedicated to the CPA Exam (http://www.gscpa.org/content/CPAexam.aspx), you’ll not only be ready for the exam, you might have some money left over to celebrate when you pass! Build Your Resume When searching for a job, employers want to see you’re active and have experience in addition to your grades. By adding volunteer work to your resume you’re showcasing your skills that can be integrated with other work experiences. GSCPA provides you with the opportunity to volunteer at any of our twenty conferences (http://www.gscpa.org/content/Conferences.aspx), the annual Educational Foundation Golf Tournament, (http://www.gscpa.org/content/efgolf.aspx) and various events through out the year.

(mailto:chammond@gscpa.org) Free Chapter Membership One of the biggest benefits of student membership is the chance to become active in your local community for free. This combines several benefits into one: it builds your resume by showing your involvement at a local level, provides an opportunity to network with local CPAs face-to-face, and keeps you informed of what’s going on in your area.
