The Return of Intercollegiate Athletics to Dalton State
- After students declared their desire for the presence of intercollegiate sports at Dalton State by voting for the imposition of an athletics fee, Dalton State has announced that after a 30+ year absence, an intercollegiate athletics program will indeed be making a grand return.
- On February 1, 2012, Dalton State held a press conference to introduce the new director of the Dalton State intercollegiate athletics program, Derek Waugh.
- On August 2, 2012 Dalton State held a press conference to introduce the new head men's basketball coach, Tony Ingle. Ingle was the only NCAA men’s basketball coach in Georgia to ever win a National Championship, and led the Roadrunners into their inaugural season of NAIA basketball in 2013.
