Civil Discourse: Public Forum/Panel Discussions

Difficult Conversations workshop series

Whether dealing with a challenging co-worker, a family member, or simply saying "No," "I'm sorry," or "I love you," we all have conversations that cause anxiety and frustration.

Dr. Travis McKie-Voerste and Dr. Michael Woodward will lead workshops based on the topics found in the book Difficult Conversations

by Douglas Stone, Bruce Patton and Sheila Heen:

*Understanding the principles of civil discourse

*Developing active listening skills

*Managing emotions in heated conversations

*Engaging respectfully with diverse opinions

*Recognizing bias and assumptions and handling misinformation

*Creating a positive environment for dialogue

The attached flyer provides the schedule for the workshops which will be held at the Roberts Library and the Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library.

Dr. McKie-Voerste and Dr. Woodard will share similar information at both locations.

You may want to attend a session with each speaker. The workshops are not in consecutive order and guests are welcome to just attend one. Please fill out the registration form to reserve your spot.
