What Am I Reading?

Cover Art
Travels in Siberia - Ian Frazier
Call Number: DK 756.2.F73 2010
ISBN: 0374278725
I enjoy books that cover subjects across the disciplines: history, geography, religion, political science, literature, social science, etc. This book about Siberia puts the subject in the context of the times and the people and demonstrates the value of a broad liberal arts education. At one point in his Siberian travels Ian Frazier is scribbling in his journal during a pause in the journey, when he realizes his fellow travelers are waiting on him. "In Russia, writing is so revered that no one had had the nerve to interrupt me in what might have been an act of literary creation."
