What is APA Style?

APA Style consists of guidelines published within the 6th edition of The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

          These guidelines cover:

          *format of scholarly manuscripts

           * grammar and punctuation

           *graphic elements (such as charts and graphs)

           *rules for citing sources

At Dalton State, instructors in the Department of Social Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Social Work, and School of Business Administration may require students to use the APA style for various types of assignments.

 References to specific page numbers within the APA manual are provided throughout this document.

Copies of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association are available at the Reference desk.

To see examples of how to cite specific types of sources, go to the APA Style LibGuide.
